Newely Natural.....How do I keep moisture?

How do I keep moisture?

Well since the beginning of my journey when my hair began to grow I was worried about keeping moisture in my hair and keeping it soft. Since I have not worn my hair out natural since I've had it down it is usually under a wig cap, out (when I'm at home) and under a satin head scarf. Once I am at home my hair is still moist, due to sweat which has formed through the day but it is sometimes not soft. I have been natural for 4 months and now my hair is long enough to put in extensions, long enough to plait into sections. I was oiling my hair and I asked my mum to oil the back for me, I was using a coconut oil hair oil. Side note...I like my mum doing my hair even though I can oil my own hair it's like when some mothers brush their daughters hair.

So today all the plaits are in and now I will see if this method helps keep my hair soft and moisturized as this is important to healthy hair. I think I will probably put my hair into extensions, fine "box braids" as a protective style as my hair is long enough to do something different with. I love my natural hair but I also do love long hair (when i say long I don't mean super long) which I realized when I did my "BIG CHOP". This journey is one where I am learning about myself.......the natural me which is a hard and interesting one. I have not me new natural since I was a child and now as an adult it is an adjustment, a huge adjustment to make. One thing I do know is that if I'm going to successfully be on this journey I want nice, soft and healthy hair. Well once I take out the plaits in a few days I will post and update as to if it kept the moisture and the softness. I'm also curious to see if when I take it out it will achieve a short twist out??? I think it possibly will but not sure if I will like the outcome.
